perigee moon.

Perigee is the closest point to the earth and it is in this stage that the moon appears larger. Looking at the moon in the sky without anything to compare it to, you wouldn’t notice any size difference. But the difference in size can in fact be quite significant.

Oh but I got my ass outside to get it to compare to the horizon. It was difficult to capture because it was still pretty bright out- and the brightness of the moon itself throws a lot off. So I sat outside for awhile  on the hilltop that overlooks Mission Gorge.

I ended up doing some minimal photoshop work to bring out some detail in the moon. Overall I was happy with the shot.
